Japanese brand km5 has created the CP1, a minimalistic CD player that is both a gadget and a decor in one.
Old music technology like cassettes and vinyl records have been revived throughout the last few years following the rise of nostalgia-driven trends. km5’s CP1 is designed for those who wish to indulge in the charm of physical music formats in style, or if they still have their old CD collections lying about.
The player comes in a simple and clean, square case that resembled a polaroid photo with its pristine white frame. Its clear front allows users to watch the CD’s spinning action as it plays, or slot in the cover art to enjoy the same visual experience music streaming platforms offer.
Physical controls are fitted on the edge while an LED display graces the corner for track indication. Equipped with Bluetooth 5.0, the CP1 can also connect with wireless earphones and Bluetooth speakers. Rechargeable via USB-Type C, its battery power can last up to 8 hours per charge and with a 280g weight, it can be hung on the wall or carried on the go.
The CP1 CD player retails for ¥16,500 JPY (approximately $122 USD) and can be purchased on km5’s official website.
