‘King of the Hill’ Reboot Could Premiere in 2025

'King of the Hill' Reboot Could Premiere in 2025

King of the Hill co-creator Greg Daniels revealed that the beloved show’s reboot may not hit Hulu until 2025.

Speaking to TVLine, Daniels revealed that some pre-production work on the revival had already begun prior to the writers and actors strike, including a table read of two episodes. Work hit a pause during the strikes, but now that things in Hollywood are restarting, he and the writers are “rewriting the third episode or the fourth episode and getting notes on the first episode” and that the show could possibly premiering in “the beginning of 2025.” An official date was not confirmed as of writing.

The King of the Hill reboot will see the return of many of the main voice actors including co-creator Mike Judge as Hank, Kathy Najimy as Peggy, Pamela Adlon as Bobby and Stephen Root as Bill. A replacement for Brittany Murphy, who died in 2009 and voiced Luanne, has not been announced.

Daniels also opened up about the issue of Kahn, the Hills’ next door Laotian neighbor, as he was previously voiced by white actor Toby Huss. He explains that they are still unsure of whether Kahn will return from the reboot, “But I think we would most likely replace Toby’s voice for Kahn. Like, if we were casting today, we wouldn’t have cast him. But we cast it in 1997.” He further explained that in the past, voice actors would bring several characters to life and that Huss first voiced Cotton Hill prior to the role of Kahn. He continued, “And most productions, especially back then, didn’t have the budget to to hire a special performer for each voice. But it’s different now.”

Stay tuned for more updates.

In related news, Daniels revealed that the “reboot” of The Office will most likely be a spinoff.
