Kid Cudi has broken sales records with the vinyl release of his seventh studio album, Man on the Moon III: The Chosen.
The album made its debut in December of 2020, but the vinyl edition was just released on December 17 of this year. According to Billboard, the album sits at number four on the Top Album Sales chart with 41,500 vinyl units sold. This places Cudi’s album just behind Adele’s 30, Taylor Swift’s Red (Taylor’s Version) and Bo Burnham’s Inside (The Songs). Additionally, Man on the Moon III: The Chosen debuted at number two on Billboard‘s Vinyl Albums chart.
The vinyl release of Man on the Moon III: The Chosen was no simple feat for the Cleveland-born rapper as it broke the record for the biggest vinyl sales week for both a male artist and rap album, according to Chart Data. Since the album’s original digital release that amassed 144,000 album-equivalent sales in the first week, it has since sold an additional 81,000 copies.
In case you missed it, Kid Cudi confirms he will release two new albums in 2022.
