Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi is slated to star in John Woo‘s upcoming action-thriller Silent Night alongside Joel Kinnaman.
The film, which is currently in production in Mexico City, follows Godlock (Kinnaman), who is “a father on a mission to avenge his young son who was tragically caught in the crossfire of gang violence on Christmas Eve,” according to loglines. “Shot and nearly killed while in pursuit of the murderers, Godlock vows to avenge his son by any means necessary.” Mescudi will play Detective Dennis Vassel.
Woo, who has previously helmed movies including A Better Tomorrow, The Killer, Face/Off and more, is directing the project based on a script written by Robert Lynn. Harold Torres and Catalina Sandino Moreno will also star in the film.
Producers include Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee (Thunder Road Films), along with Christian Mercuri (Capstone) and Lori Tilkin (A Better Tomorrow Films). Meanwhile, David Haring, Joe Gatta, Ruzanna Kegeyan, Mike Gabrawy and Will Flynn will executive produce.
“Based on what we’ve seen from set so far, it’s clear that Scott has a presence and gravitas that is incredibly captivating,” Gatta told Deadline. “He is a powerful addition, and perfect complement, to this stellar cast.”
Mescudi has previously appeared in projects including Ti West’s X and Netflix‘s Don’t Look Up, as well as Bill & Ted Face the Music, HBO’s We Are Who We Are, Westworld Season 3 and more. He is set to make his feature directorial debut with Teddy, an upcoming Netflix comedy produced by Jeymes Samuel and JAY-Z, next year.
