Kid Cudi Reflects on Fame and Mental Health in ‘A Man Named Scott’ Documentary Trailer

Kid Cudi has shared the trailer for A Man Named Scott, a forthcoming documentary about his life and career. The film follows the rise of the rapper, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, beginning with the release of his debut LP, Man on the Moon: The End of Day in 2009.

“How can I make something that calls out to the broken and the lost?” Cudi says in the trailer. “I needed to feel something with the music.”

Man on the Moon addressed personal themes of depression and anxiety, as well as family issues and drug and alcohol abuse. Achieving both mainstream and critical success, the album launched Cudi’s rap career. Included on the LP are three chart-topping singles: “Day ‘n’ Nite,” “Make Her Say” and “Pursuit of Happiness.”

Directed by Robert Alexander, the documentary explores the acclaimed rapper’s journey, looking closely at a “decade of creative choices, struggles and breakthroughs.” Some of Cudi’s collaborators and a few fans will also be featured in the film, including Kanye West and Timothée Chalamet.

A Man Named Scott will premiere on Amazon Prime on November 5.

In other music news, Snoh Aalegra and Tyler, the Creator released a music video for “Neon Peach.”
