Kid Cudi has launched his interactive live performance app Encore. Working alongside CEO Jonathan Gray and President Ian Edelman, Kid Cudi serves as the Chief Creative Officer for the app, which bills itself as a “music-first creator platform.”
Encore allows artists to release new music, interact with fans and host live shows right from phones. In turn, fans can attend virtual performances and interact with their favorite artists and fellow fans. Before a show, fans can meet up in the app’s online lobby and meet one another while getting hyped for the performance.
“My number one priority has always been inspiring others and providing them the space to tell their own stories in an authentic and meaningful way,” Kid Cudi said in a press statement. “We created Encore as a space for artists to share their art, build community, while also being able to pay their rent.”
The app is backed with $9M in funds raised by Battery Ventures, with additional investments from 468 Capital, Parade Ventures, Nomad Ventures, Moving Capital, Kayak Ventures and Gaingels.
Encore is available for download on the App Store now. Musicians can apply to work with Encore on the app’s official website.
