Kevin Durant Is the Highest Paid Athlete at Tokyo Olympics

Kevin Durant is without a doubt one of the best players in professional basketball. With his many accolades in the NBA, it also comes as no surprise that he is viewed as one of the best scorers in the league. His ability to create shots at any angle has been admired by many throughout his career, cementing his title as a superstar in the NBA.

As a star player, it is obvious that KD is going to be paid very well. His base salary alone for the 2020-21 season was $39,058,950 USD. Forbes recently reported that Durant is at the top of the list of the highest-paid professional athlete in the Tokyo Olympics, raking in over $75 million USD in the last year. The publication reported, “With two Olympic gold medals under his belt, the Brooklyn Nets star has seen his investments off the court, rival his prolific play on the court. Durant has become the league’s latest media mogul, with the start of his media network Boardroom, a stake in MLS’s Philadelphia Union, and his own venture capital firm 35 Ventures.” Kevin Durant was also recently part of the world’s top ten highest-paid athletes list.

Aside from KD, Japanese American tennis icon Naomi Osaka comes in second on the list of highest-paid athletes competing at the Tokyo Olympics. In the past year, Osaka earned over $60 million USD with $55 million USD as endorsements and $5 million USD in prize money from her competitions.
