Following a series of intimate shows in Los Angeles and New York, Kevin Abstract has shared a new single called “Blanket.” The track ushers in a new phase of music from Abstract, who is best known as the frontman and founder of Brockhampton.
Alongside their work as a group, most of Brockhampton’s members simultaneously pursued their solo music careers. Abstract released his debut album American Boyfriend: A Suburban Love Story in 2016. His sophomore record, Arizona Baby, arrived three years later.
While the singer hasn’t given word of a full-length LP just yet, “Blanket” demonstrates a marked development in his sound, darker in comparison to the indie pop style of his earlier work.
“Blanket” also came with an official music video co-directed by Cole Bat and Abstract himself. The camera hones in a white house in the middle of a field. Inside, Abstract is seemingly hiding out from the apocalypse, joined by some stuffed friends.
