Kendrick Lamar‘s good kid, m.A.A.d city is officially the first and only hip-hop album to have spent 10 consecutive years on the Billboard 200.
The news was announced by Chart Data while Billboard’s chart history confirmed that the record has logged its 520th week, and went up three spots to No. 43 from last week. good kid, m.A.A.d city debuted at No. 2 upon its release and sold 242,000 equivalent album units in its first week — making it the highest-selling first-week hip-hop album from a male artist in 2012. As of writing, it has been certified triple platinum.
K-Dot recently celebrated the album’s 10th anniversary with a show in Paris that was livestreamed via Amazon Music. His setlist included tracks from his latest album, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, along with cuts from good kid, m.A.A.d city like “Backseat Freestyle,” “m.A.A.d city,” “Swimming Pools (Drank),” “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe” and “Money Trees.”
