Kendall Jenner has been famous for over half of her life, yet it’s still something she’s not fully comfortable with.
In an interview for WSJ Magazine’s Summer Digital issue, The Kardashians star opened up about the difficulties she’s faced since her family rose to fame — and feeling like she’s “not built for this life.”
“Since I was really young, I felt out of place in my family,” Kendall shared. “I was born into this life, but I didn’t choose this life.”
“I’m not built for this by any means,” she continued. “I’m not good at it.” Kendall explained that she’ll simply “do it” and has “learned how to do it.”
“I think [Kim Kardashian] was built for [this life],” she added, after mentioning how Kim would intentionally go to celebrity hotspots “just to get photographed.” “It took me [almost] 20 years to be like, OK, I guess I’m getting used to it now and it’s fine and I get it,” Kendall said.
While it’s not the life she would have chosen for herself, Kendall doesn’t take it for granted. “I considered myself one of the luckiest people on the planet to be able to live the life that I live,” she said. “But I do think that it’s challenging for me a lot more than it’s not.”
One thing that frustrates her is all of those Kardashian comparisons. “I understand that I fall under the umbrella of the Kardashian sisters. It’s just weird to me…because I am just like my dad in so many ways,” Kendall said. “I’m such a Jenner in my opinion.”
She also said, “I’m not going to sit here and say, ‘Poor me,’ but I do think that [the attention is] pretty intense. People are more mean to my family in general. They take everything and make it a bad thing.”
