Kehlani has shared another single from her forthcoming album Crash. The track is called “Next 2 U” and opens with text from a poem from Palestinian-American writer Hala Alyan before cutting to the singer and another dancer on top of a car.
The song is about Kehlani wanting to protect those she cares about. In other shots, the singer performs in front of a Palestinian flag.
“You’re more than the sun, you’re why the sun beams / Your love is high, wide like a river,” she sings. “And if I die, I already fell and I’m floating / Ooh, I know what it’s like to feel like I’m dyin’ in peace.”
Slated to arrive on June 21, Crash will mark Kehlani’s fourth studio album, following 2022’s Blue Water Road.
