KAWS Reveals $15,200 USD ‘Good Intentions’ Wooden Figure

KAWS already has art fans and collectors alike buzzing with the opening of his “KAWS TOKYO FIRST” show at Japan’s Mori Art Center and its accompanying collection of figures, but now he’s adding more fuel to the fire with a new wooden figure dubbed Good Intentions. Crafted by the master woodworkers at Karimoku, Good Intentions is a shrunken-down iteration of a colossal wooden sculpture that first debuted at KAWS’ Yorkshire Sculpture Park exhibit in 2016.

Though this Good Intentions figure may not boast the staggering size of its counterpart, it does feature the same attention to detail. Wooden shades both dark and light appear across the figure, which shows a stoic full-size COMPANION sheltering a child-sized COMPANION that peers out from behind its right leg. This pint-sized COMPANION offers a look of either trepidation or curiosity, depending on how you chose to view the work. The figure stands 15.75 inches high, and is limited to a scant 100 units, each of which is hand-signed and numbered, plus 20 artist’s proofs. The MSRP is set at $15,200 USD.

Subscribers to KAWS’ KAWSONE email list are able to submit their information for a chance to purchase a figure until August 4 at 12 PM EST. Winners will receive a response email by August 6, and will have three days to submit payment via wire transfer.
