Kate Hudson opened up about how she and her three kids enjoy bonding over her love of fitness.
The Oscar nominee, 44, revealed daughter Rani, five, and sons Bingham ‘Bing’, 12, and Ryder, 20, join in on the her workouts, as she believes a healthy lifestyle is ‘not taught, it’s caught,’ per her interview with People on Sunday.
‘Rani comes to my workouts all the time, and it’s so amazing,’ she said. ‘But, I don’t force it on my kids. They want to be a part of it.
‘They see me and my trainer [Brian Nguyen] working hard and cussing each other out and sweating. It’s fun.’
The Glass Onion star – who shares Rani with fiancé Danny Fujikawa, Bing with ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy and Ryder with ex-husband Chris Robinson – added that she makes sure to carve out time for her kids at the end of each day.
‘I am busy, I am really busy, but my day is done at 5:00 p.m., and I am in that kitchen making them something.
‘It’s hard to get it together when you are a working mom, and it was especially hard when I was a single mom,’ she admitted.
Kate went on to say that she invites the kids into the kitchen to set them up for success with a healthy relationship with food.
‘My kids’ relationship to food is healthy because I get them in the kitchen,’ she said. ‘I get them chopping with me, we talk about what herbs are.’
‘I think it’s important to really get your kids involved in the things that you’re doing,” Hudson continued. ‘There’s no chef in my house.’
Kate and Danny — who welcomed their daughter Rani in 2018 — got engaged in September 2021.
The proposal was four years in the making, as they started their romantic relationship back in 2016.
The couple knew each other for 15 years before they started dating, because he is the stepbrother of her best friends Sara and Erin Foster.
They originally met in 2002 when she was 23 years old – but began dating him at age 37 in December 2016.
Kate also shares a son Bingham with her ex fiancé Matt Bellamy, whom she dated from 2010 until 2014; and her eldest son Ryder, 19, with ex husband Chris Robinson, whom she divorced in 2006.
Speaking of Kate’s exes, she recently stopped by The Drew Barrymore Show to dish on her and Drew being ghosted by two of their former flames, who happen to be brothers, Owen and Luke Wilson.
‘Did you ever hear from one of them?’ Drew coyly asked Kate, who replied, ‘No!’ Drew added, ‘Neither did I.’
Kate famously dated Owen off and on between 2006 and 2009. The pair first met on the set of You, Me and Dupree but didn’t start dating until months later, in September 2006.
Drew had a romance with Luke between 1996 and 1998.
Notably, Drew called the romance with her Home Fries co-star an ‘open relationship’ last time she spoke with Kate about the Wilson trysts on her show in January 2022.
