Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” Is Her First U.S. Top 10 Single, Thanks to Stranger Things

Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” Is Her First U.S. Top 10 Single, Thanks to Stranger Things

The renewed success of Kate Bush’s 1985 Hounds of Love single “Running Up That Hill,” thanks to its prominent inclusion the new season Stranger Things, has landed the song at No. 8 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. It marks the first time one of Bush’s songs has landed in the top 10 on the U.S. singles chart.

The song’s new peak outpaces its previous spot at No. 30 upon its debut in 1985 (in a chart dominated by Phil Collins and Marilyn Martin’s “Separate Lives” and Starship’s “We Built This City”). The No. 1 song in the country right now is Harry Styles’ Harry’s House single “As It Was.”

Over the weekend, Bush released a rare statement commenting on how the show prompted the song’s viral resurgence. “It’s all really exciting! Thanks very much to everyone who has supported the song,” she wrote. “I wait with bated breath for the rest of the series in July.”
