Kate Bush to make new album: “I've got lots of ideas”

Kate Bush has revealed that she’s planning on making a new album, telling the BBC that she has “lots of ideas” and is “looking forward to getting back into that creative space.”

The comments came in an interview on BBC Radio 4, in which the “Running Up That Hill” singer was asked if she was working on new music. “Not at the moment,” she replied, explaining that she’s “been caught up doing a lot of archive work over the last few years, redesigning our website, putting a lyric book together.”

Nonetheless, she plans to return to the studio soon, saying she’s “very keen to start working on a new album.”

“I’ve got lots of ideas and I’m really looking forward to getting back into that creative space, it’s been a long time,” she continued. Asked if it’s something she’s been planning to do for some time, she replied, “Yes it is, really. Particularly [in] the last year, I’ve felt really ready to start doing something new.”

However, when the interviewer mentioned recent comments made by Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour that he tried to pursued her to return to performing live again, Bush said she’s “not there yet.”

Bush’s most recent album was 2011’s 50 Words for Snow. Since then, she’s kept a relatively low profile, other than experiencing a surge of popularity after “Running Up That Hill” was featured in Stranger Things Season 4.

In the meantime, Bush has released a new animated short film titled “Little Shrew (Snowflake).” Written and directed by herself, is set to her 2011 song “Snowflake,” and aims to raise awareness about the charity War Child.

Speaking to the BBC about the film, Bush said, “I just felt I wanted to make a little animation… It was really the idea of children caught up in war. I wanted to draw attention to how horrific it is for children. I came up with this idea for a storyboard and felt that, actually, people would be more empathetic towards a creature rather than a human. So, I came up with the idea of it being a little shrew.”
