Karol G adds another career success to her Billboard chart account as “Sejodioto” lifts 6-1 on the Latin Airplay chart (dated Feb. 12). With 12 No. 1s on the all-Latin genre ranking, she moves into sole possession of the second most among women, after Shakira’s 15 leaders. Karol G was previously tied with Gloria Estefan for the second-most No. 1s among women.
“Sejodioto” traces its win to a 33% gain in audience impressions to 10 million, earned in the U.S. in the week ending Feb. 6, according to MRC Data. It is also the greatest gainer of the week.
The Ovy on the Drums-produced track is Karol G’s first No. 1 after collecting five with her KG0516 album No. 1s (“Tusa,” “Ay, Dios Mio,” “Bichota,” “Location,” and “El Makinon”), the most leaders from the same album since Romeo Santos’ Formula, Vol. 2 managed to place the same output between October 2013 through May 2015 (“Propuesta Indecente,” “Odio,” “Eres Mia,” “Yo También,” and “Hilito”). In between the five No. 1s and “Sejodioto,” Karol landed two top 45 collaborations: the dance-imbued “Don’t Be Shy,” with Tiesto (it peaked at No. 43 last November) and “Friki,” with Feid (it debuts at No. 45 on the Feb. 12-dated chart).
“Sejodioto” marks Karol’s 12th Latin Airplay achievement since August 2018. Notably, it is only her third as a soloist, without an accompanied act, trailing “Ay, Dios Mio” (one week, Oct. 2020) and “Bichota” (one week, Feb. 13, 2021).
Beyond its new coronation, “Sejodioto” also cracks the top 10 barrier on Hot Latin Songs (which blends streams, airplay, and digital sales) through a 15-9 thrust with gains across all metrics. The song generated 2.3 million on-demand streams in the U.S., up 10%, in the week ending Jan. 3. It concurrently gained in sales with a 13% increase and is her 13th top 10 on Hot Latin Songs.
Elsewhere on the charts, Argentinean Maria Becerra pushes new boundaries on the Latin airplay rankings. After her No. 22 high on Latin Rhythm Airplay through the J Balvin collaboration, “Qué Más Pues?” (Jan. 15-dated survey), she scores her first top 10 on Latin Pop Airplay thanks to “Los Tragos,” with Reik.
The tune jumps to No. 9 in just its second week, after its No. 19 debut a week ago (chart dated Feb. 5) with 2.8 million in audience impressions, up 74%.
With 22 top 10s, Reik extends its record for the most top 10s for a group on Latin Pop Airplay. Among all acts, Enrique Iglesias continues to lead with 44 top 10s to his account.
