KALMAR Automotive Unveils Electrified Porsche 911: The 7-97 E-Volt

KALMAR Automotive has made a bold entry into the EV market with the introduction of its first EV conversion, the 7-97 E-Volt. This innovative model combines classic Porsche 911 (964) design with modern EV tech.

The 7-97 E-Volt features an upcycled Tesla Model S drivetrain, producing 450 hp and 486 lb-ft of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in under four seconds and offers a driving range of up to 180 miles. The EV’s dual driving modes — Eco and Sport — provide options for performance and efficiency.

KALMAR’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond the powertrain. The 7-97 E-Volt recycles materials from the donor vehicle, including recast aluminum and reformed glass, while its lightweight body panels are made from plant fiber. These eco-friendly flax fibers reduce CO2 emissions by 78 percent compared to traditional carbon fiber.

Despite the EV conversion, the 7-97 E-Volt retains the weight of its original 964 Turbo, thanks to its innovative design. Aerodynamics have also been improved with a redesigned front intake and bonded glass technology that reduces wind noise and drag. Founder Jan Kalmar emphasizes that the EV conversion was driven by customer demand but goes beyond simply swapping a combustion engine for electric power, stating “We looked to see how far we could take its green credentials.”

Priced from €450,000 EUR or approximately $500,000 USD, the 7-97 E-Volt is a high-performance, environmentally conscious option for enthusiasts and is offered as a reversible conversion that allows owners to switch back to combustion power if desired.
