Kali Uchis Hits the Dance Floor with New Single “No Hay Ley”: Stream

Kali Uchis is back with her first solo release in nearly two years. The Latin-pop artist returns today with a club-ready new single called “No Hay Ley.”

With Uchis singing in both Spanish and English, “No Hay Ley” is driven by a four-on-the-floor beat that immediately threatens to summon you to the dance floor. The song’s narrator is caught in a star-crossed love affair: “No importa lo que digan, yo te besaré otra vez,” Uchis sings (“No matter what they say, I’ll kiss you again”), her voice drenched in hypnotic reverb,

“I wrote this song about putting love above all else,” Uchis explains of the song in a press release. “‘En el amor no hay ley’ means ‘there are no laws to love.’ Be with who makes you happy, and don’t listen to what anyone else has to say about it because it wasn’t their business in the first place!”

Uchis’ last full-length release was 2020’s Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios), which was her first Spanish-language album. Last October, she teamed up with SZA for a steamy remix of “Fue Mejor,” and she also made an appearance on the Minions: The Rise of Gru soundtrack earlier this year.
