Justin Bieber and Nigerian artist Omah Lay have teamed up for a new Afrobeats song called “Attention”
“Lately, I’ve been losing my mind / Certain things I can’t find,” Bieber sings over a percussion beat. “In the middle of the night / I’m still up, I’m still trying to decide.”
Produced by Harv, one of Bieber’s frequent collaborators, and Avedon, this new track marks the duo’s second time teaming up. They worked together last June, alongside fellow Nigerian singer Alpha P, for the Masterkraft remix of Bieber’s “Peaches.”
“As soon as I heard the beat, the lyrics were already in my head,” Lay told Billboard about how the song came together. “We didn’t even spend 30 minutes making the song. [Producer] Harv called him and I FaceTimed Justin Bieber for the first time in my life.”
“Later on, Harv got to play the song for him, and … before I knew it, he sent in his verse and the song was good just like that,” he continued.
“Attention” comes off of Lay’s forthcoming debut album Boy Alone. He’s already dropped a few singles from the project, “Free My Mind” and “Understand.”
