Junji Ito’s ‘Uzumaki’ Anime Is Releasing in Fall

Junji Ito’s ‘Uzumaki’ Anime Is Releasing in Fall

Yesterday, at the San Diego Comic-Con, Adult Swim finally announced the official premiere date for Uzumaki, the highly-anticipated anime adaption based on one of Junji Ito’s most popular manga.

The anime was first announced back in 2019 as a four-episode mini-series. While it was originally slated for a 2020 premiere on Toonami, its release date had been pushed back several times. With the latest trailer, the series’ official release is finally set in stone.

Just under a minute long, the video previews more of Uzumaki’s eerie setting and unsettling atmosphere through its black and white visuals. This is topped with a spine-chilling score composed by Colin Stetson, who produced the soundtrack from Hereditary, Texas Chainsaw Massacre(2022) and The Menu.

Watch the latest trailer for Uzumaki ahead of its Toonami premiere on September 28.
