Jumia expands food delivery services to Meru and Nanyuki
Monday July 24 2023
Online foodstuff delivery platform Jumia Food has, in conjunction with restaurant chain Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), announced expansion of its operations to Meru and Nanyuki as part of its wider strategy to reach more secondary cities in the country.
With the expansion, consumers will now be able to order KFC meals from the comfort of their homes with Jumia Food commercial director Sonali Patel saying that there’s a growing demand for the service in upcoming cities.
The development brings to seven the total number of cities served by the delivery platform, which already has operations in the capital Nairobi and other cities that include Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru and Eldoret.
On its part, KFC boasts over 35 branches across the country.
“We are committed to providing Kenyans with convenient and reliable ways to order food, regardless of where they live. We believe that the expansion to Meru and Nanyuki is just the beginning, and we look forward to bringing Jumia Food to more secondary cities in Kenya in the future,” said Patel.
KFC Franchisee Kuku Foods CEO Jacques Theunissen said the deal has been triggered by changing consumer trends around online ordering.
“As a business, we continuously aim to make access to our menu easier and create new channels,” he said.
