The City Cinderella has made her highly anticipated long-form debut. JT has unleashed her aptly entitled City Cinderella, which signals her first-ever solo studio record and a proper introduction to her artistry.
“I have literally NO words but I’m gonna say this. When I listen to City Cinderella, it’s what I want to hear,” she began in an Instagram caption. “I was being completely true to myself, the south, my city & my day 1’s who loved my verse on ‘Where The Bag At’ lol… ahhh I’m so happy it’s out!!! I feel free.”
The 16-track offering echos the sentiment JT introduced on “Sideways” and asserted with even more vigor on “OKAY” – that she’s more than capable of handling herself as a solo artist. On that note, the project is primarily a solo effort, with features interspersed throughout from DJ Khaled, Stunna Girl, CLIP and Jeezy on the remix of “OKAY.”
The City Girls rapper also unveiled a closer look at the making of the album earlier this week, in the form of a short film entitled The Making of City Cinderella. Clocking in at 22 minutes long, the out-now documentary chronicles the journey of Jatavia Johnson becoming JT. This nostalgic sentiment is also mirrored in the album’s latest visual for “90’s Baby” which dropped today as well.
JT is also readying for her headlining The City Cinderella Tour, which kicks off on August 20.
