The MOBO Awards returned to London on 30 Nov. and it was most certainly a night to remember. For the first time in its 25-year history, the award for Best Album was a tie, with “Alpha Place” by Knucks, and “Sometimes I Might Be Introvert” by Little Simz both bagging the prize. This tops off a huge year for Little Simz who also won the Mercury Prize 2022 in October.
While the annual ceremony, presented by Chunkz and Yung Filly, also crowned a number of other winners, including Central Cee as the Best Male Act, and Pink Pantheress as the Best Female Act, it was the red carpet that really deserved your attention. The selection of outfits worn by the attendees were a masterclass in red carpet dressing.
Model Jourdan Dunn wowed in a slinky taupe halterneck dress by Blumarine. The deep cowl neckline plunged all the way down to her navel and was held in place with a single string adorned with a metal branded “B” logo. Cutouts at the sides made way for the backless section held together with string fabric. The satin fabric flowed to the floor to create a small train and she added gold stacked bangles.
Dunn’s hair was swept into an updo with chunky sections pulled out at the front. A dramatic metallic smokey eye and matte lip completed the look as Dunn radiated glamour. She joined the likes of Elz the Witch who hit the MOBO red carpet for the first time in a sheer dress with intricate strategically placed swirls, Indiyah Polack chose a black satin gown with voluminous neckline, and BRITs Rising Star Award nominees Flo who opted for matching little black dresses.
