Popular American singer, John Legend’s “Coming 2 America”, featuring Nigerian Afro-fusion singer and Grammy-nominated act Burnaboy, is a fulfilling stroke of un-hypnotic synth and blustering drums that range from an unconventional spectrum of sonic styles enriched with pop that holistically represents a very strong filming soundtrack for the 2021 “Coming 2 America” blockbuster film.
“Coming 2 America” soundtrack is powerful and its sonic essence built on an easy run-down that strictly envision certain scenes from the American comedy movie starring popular American movie icon, Eddie Murphy and was directed by Craig Brewer.
The songwriting mostly from John Legend’s verse and the chorus implies a very great build-up that totally depicts a homely description of America.
The artistic essence from the track could also relate back to the movie, like from back to its very resonating music cover photo that pictures Eddie on his royal apparel, sitting inside a cab that renders him a very homely welcome to the beauty of New York City, in America.
Meanwhile, “Coming 2 America” soundtrack is simply a sophisticated welcome song that aligns a set of description from the songwriting that not only rally about America but also cuts across the soil and the life in African diaspora which Oluwa Burna, mends in his unique verse to showcase his people’s weakness to fight and highlighting their barrier (corruption).
“African in a fight, make my own money/No be problem cause I’m royal/been everywhere me no need no introduction or permission cause I’m royal/I just do what I want just in case somebody else see what I’m on/Only on the floor when I walk I wanna see you move to the sound of the drum you better listen/Dangerous coming from a place that’s just wild and corrupt/I’ma see God soon, every turn to you/Now I’m on my way to America”.
Burna Boy sings a verse that relates with the movie and in between, he sings for his home and highlights their barrier.
Probably I clearly see Burna’s purpose shuddering on this record from his home in Africa, well in Nigeria respectively.
But entirely every segment of this art portrayed America mostly on John Legend’s cut and the sturdy chorus which he posed and amplified America while the song’s build-up totally resonates deeply and gives Murphy a very good homely welcome and the strong description he deserves in the comic American film to convey a complete message of the movie.
The song tightly grips its essence and materialized the birth of a pragmatic soundtrack with John Legend and Burna’s delivery which ended sophisticated and still gave Burna a special opportunity to tell a brief story of Africa’s negligence and his peoples corruption; and while the song perfectly fits in its cause as a movie soundtrack at the same time, it creates a void which very logic listener could trace with a thought back to Africa, to understand her dangers and the corruption of the people stated by Burna from his home respectively, in his verse on the soundtrack.
Final Thoughts:
Well, I suggest this soundtrack should mean a lot to Africans.
I also suggest that Nigerians specifically would see their relationship with this strong song starting from Burna’s core fanatics respectively and every average Nigerian citizen who has developed strong cultural feelings and love for great music.
He/she who really understands this review as I learned, has two edges to associate with from its creators on the soundtrack.
John Legend amplified America and kept her shape in perfect order in between and he savored her power, and everyone that would come across his verse would say that the song is enhancing the movie.
Yeah, it’s a very beautiful soundtrack for “Coming 2 America” comedy movie, and quite alright, Legend is an American citizen too.
While Burna Boy, joined the wagon aimed fully at promoting the movie set, and I’m happy he unveiled Africa’s barrier at a minimal level with a trajectory for core Africans and average Nigerians specifically who could relate as well.
Kudos to Burna, who has always attended to such matters many times and tend to amalgamate change through the music he churnes out and wholly represents true African all the way, and by exposing her barrier in such a staying diaspora soundtrack like – “Coming 2 America”, makes me more beliefs that states strongly that he is the African giant.
