Joe Jonas Is Lending a Hand (Or 250) To Americans Anxious to Travel Again

Joe Jonas Is Lending a Hand (Or 250) To Americans Anxious to Travel Again

In an interview with CBS This Morning, Jonas explained why his collaboration with Expedia comes at a time when he’s “ready to get back on the road” and tour again with his brothers, but others might feel scared to safely travel again. He also mused about his expanding family after he and wife Sophie Turner welcomed their daughter Willa last summer.

“I’m always on the go, I’m always moving and traveling and touring, and to be in one place for a solid amount of time and just have my feet on the ground and be with my family, my immediate family, is time I don’t think I’ll get back. So I’m so thankful and grateful,” Jonas said.

He later delved into the mental health foundation he and Turner are developing that has been an “important topic” for them as a couple and as entertainers. In May 2019, the Game of Thrones actress cited Jonas for aiding her mental health journey while she struggled with depression. Now, the couple is trying to aid frontline workers whose mental health took a hefty toll during the pandemic. “We’re thinking of ways, creative ways that we can give back to them. Donate our time, donate — whether if it’s money — to really focusing on an amazing charity that’s going to give back to these individuals,” he said.

Expedia is also offering a helping hand to communities affected by the ongoing pandemic by donating $100,000 to global humanitarian organization Mercy Corps that will go toward emergency supplies, food and clean water.

“It’s going to take time for travelers to adjust to a post-pandemic life and the new norms that this may entail — we want to make sure we are there for them, every step of the way. Providing a helping hand to travelers is our mission, whether it’s a physical hand to hold for added comfort, or the act of arming them with all the information they need to confidently plan their next trip,” added Nisreene Atassi, Expedia’s senior director and global head of communications. “We’re on a multi-year journey to becoming a travel company that is obsessed with our travelers, understanding their wants and needs. Planning a trip shouldn’t be stressful and by promising our unwavering commitment and support, travelers can focus on getting the most out of their vacations once again.”
