Jessie Reyez Announces New Album ‘Yessie’ and Shares New Track “Mutual Friend”

Jessie Reyez has delivered a new single, dubbed “Mutual Friend,” along with the release date for her forthcoming album Yessie. The Colombian-Canadian artist appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night to perform the new track, which also arrives with a Peter Huang-directed music video.

The visual opens with Reyez singing her introductory verses atop a gold-framed bed inside a home filled with contemporary dancers. “If you died tomorrow I don’t think I’d cry/I gave you one too many nights,” she sings on the chorus of the dramatic track. “Don’t care if it sound cold, it is what it is.” The dance collective, dressed in all-black, then surrounds the singer for a choreographed sequence in the living room, where deer and zebra heads line the walls. Reyez concludes the video in a white dress, while dancing ensues in the same room under flashing lights.

Following the track’s debut, Reyez took to Instagram to share the official album artwork and release date for her upcoming full-length effort. “YESSIE. THE ALBUM. SEPT 16th,” she wrote under the image, which features a black-and-white shot of the artist overlayed with the record’s title.
