Jessie Reyez and Grandson Join The Suicide Squad in New Visual for “Rain”

Jessie Reyez and Grandson Join The Suicide Squad in New Visual for “Rain”

The official music video is out today for “Rain,” an exclusive single by Jessie Reyez and Grandson off of the soundtrack for the upcoming action film, The Suicide Squad.

Directed by James Gunn, the newest development in the franchise follows the assembly of a group of DC’s misfit supervillains into Task Squad X, tapped for a mission to destroy a mysterious project.

The star-studded cast includes Margot Robbie in a reprisal of her role as Harley Quinn, alongside Idris Elba as Bloodsport and John Cena as Peacemaker. Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney and Peter Capaldi also feature in the film, while Sylvester Stallone provides the voice for fish-human hybrid King Shark.

Interspersed with scenes of Robbie from the movie, the neon-lit “Rain” visual sees Jessie Reyez and Grandson start out performing in a grungy nightclub before soldiers storm the venue. The two momentarily become members of the Squad themselves to battle it out with the intruders and avoid being captured.

“Shooting the music video for ‘Rain’ gave me the opportunity to slaughter a bunch of stuntmen with a battle ax and be a rockstar on the same day,” Grandson said in a press release. “It was unbelievably fun, and after a year stuck inside, I think this movie is a much-needed opportunity for us to just turn our brains off and watch some s*** blow up with our friends.”

The trailer for The Suicide Squad was released last month and the film arrives in theaters nationwide on August 6. Both Reyez and Grandson also have individual songs on the soundtrack for the film.

In other music news, Logic dropped yet another track, “Call Me.”
