We don’t get to see a lot of Jenna Coleman out and about, and more’s the pity as we’ve been long-time fans of her style. The actress is often spotted wearing more understated looks but that doesn’t mean we haven’t noticed her stylish outfits. Last night, she once again proved that less is more wearing a head-to-toe Chanel look that’s the perfect autumnal outfit for when you don’t want to wear a fancy dress but still want to look chic. While attending this year’s Royal Academy of Arts summer exhibition party, Coleman opted for a pair of chevron trousers, a Chanel belt and a classic Chanel bouclé jacket. Although we loved the whole ensemble, it’s the jacket that really caught our eye and reminded us just why the fashion house’s bouclé is iconic.
Created by Coco Chanel in the 1920s, the inspiration, as with many of Chanel’s original designs, stemmed from menswear pieces, and the bouclé skirt suit was no different. Of course, now, the jacket is frequently worn as a separate piece, whether it’s with smart trousers à la Coleman or even just with jeans. I’m very much a fan of wearing it with denim as I love mixing up the glamour of this piece with a more casual item. As with everything that becomes an ‘iconic’ piece in fashion, the bouclé jacket has been copied plenty of times—from other luxury designers to the high street. So, keep scrolling to see the outfit on Coleman and then see the bouclé jackets we love right now.
