Netflix on Tuesday unveiled the official trailer for its upcoming wester film The Harder They Fall, and alongside an action-packed plotline, the visual features a snippet of a new track by JAY-Z and Kid Cudi.
The collaborative track underscores the second half of the trailer, as a series of fight sequences featuring stars Jonathan Majors, Idris Elba, Regina King, Zazie Beetz, R.J. Cyler, Edi Gathegi and LaKeith Stanfield provide a first look at the film, produced by JAY-Z.
“When outlaw Nat Love (Majors) discovers that his enemy Rufus Buck (Elba) is being released from prison, he rounds up his gang to track Rufus down and seek revenge,” the official synopsis reads.
A vengeful Love assembles a group of allies consisting of his former love Stagecoach Mary (Beetz), quick-tempered Bill Pickett (Gathegi), nimble Jim Beckwourth (Cyler) and an unexpected enemy-turned-ally to take on Buck. Meanwhile, Buck employs his own squad to go up against Love’s entourage, which includes Trudy Smith (Kind) and Cherokee Bill (Stanfield), in a classic western standoff.
The movie is directed by filmmaker Jeymes Samuel, who previously worked on the 2013 western They Die By Dawn, from a script written in collaboration with Boaz Yakin. The film also stars Delroy Lindo, Danielle Deadwyler, Damon Wayans Jr. and Deon Cole.
The Harder They Fall will premiere at the BFI London Film Festival on October 6, before landing on Netflix and in select theaters in November.
