Jason REVOK Invites You to “Stare into the Abyss”

Jason REVOK is set to unveil a new exhibition titled, “Stare into the Abyss” at Library Street Collective. The show is the latest in a steady partnership with the Detroit-based gallery, which recently saw REVOK create one-of-a-kind assemblage artwork with proceeds benefiting the Innocence Project.

The latest body of work explores REVOK’s penchant for juxtaposition through assemblages across canvas and wood. For example, in _0_BLK/R/Blu/W_2/21, one can see the clear disruption the artist intends to make through the machine-crafted woodcuts that are overlaid with the unpredictability of the human touch. This motive, as meditated up upon in a statement by the gallery, comes from a disappointment in “obsessions with minute happenings, collective numbness, and feelings of powerlessness to affect change.” He thus uses his artistic practice as an “exercise in mindfulness and a means to seek purpose in life.”

Born in Riverside, California, REVOK is celebrated for his minimal aesthetic that harmonizes line, shape and color through the interplay of man-made marks and machine-assisted tools. “Stare into the Abyss” will be on view at Library Street Collective from September 25 to November 11.

In case you missed it, Kelly Wearstler has curated a special selection of artwork for David Zwirner-Backed PLATFORM.
