Jason Momoa Returns With His Son in Latest 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom' Trailer

After five long years, Jason Momoa is finally making his return as the titular Aquaman in the latest trailer released by Warner Bros. The first official trailer for the highly anticipated sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

DC’s aquatic hero is set to surf into theater this holiday season. The plot follow Momoa’s character Arthur Curry, known as the half human, half Atlantean hero Aquaman as he navigates sitting on the throne of Atlantis. The sequel picks up right where audiences are left of, seeing him team up with his half-brother Orm, played by Patrick Wilson, to fight off the ruthless pirate Black Manta, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. The synopsis reads,

“Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.”

Other cast members include an appearance from Amber Heard, who last year had a highly publicized defamation trial with her ex-husband Johnny Depp. While her role was cut down significantly, she is expected to be in the film. Nicole Kidman Temuera Morrison, Willem Dafoe and Dolph Lundgren are to reprise their roles from the original film and Randall Park is to appear as Dr. Stephen Shin after making a cameo in the first movie. Director James Wan helms the sequel This is set to be the fourth DC film released this year, following the lackluster Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash and Blue Beetle.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom hits theaters on December 20. Watch the trailer above.
