Jason Isbell announces new solo album Foxes in the Snow, shares "Bury Me"

Former Consequence cover star Jason Isbell has announced a new solo album called Foxes in the Snow. It’s set for release on March 7th via the artist’s own Southeastern Records. As the a first taste, Isbell has shared the reflective new song “Bury Me.” Stream it below.

His first entirely solo acoustic album, Isbell recorded Foxes in the Snow during a five-day recording stint at New York City’s Electric Lady Studios. He used the same mahogany 1940 Martin 0-17 acoustic guitar for each of the tracks — a notable detail given Isbell’s extensive and impressive collection of axes.

Without his trusty band The 400 Unit, “Bury Me” finds Isbell in particularly stripped-down and introspective mode. Featuring nothing more than his powerful voice and that mahogany six-string, both the performance and songwriting accomplish a lot with a little. Another near-flawless Isbell-penned country tune… who could have seen that one coming?

As for his live show, Isbell has quite a busy schedule for 2025. Next month, he’ll kick off his “An Intimate Evening with Jason Isbell” tour, a solo run that will more than likely feature some of the songs from Foxes in the Snow. Then, he’ll link back up with The 400 Unit in April for an additional full-band leg. Get tickets to any of his upcoming dates here.

Isbell’s most recent album is 2023’s Weathervanes, which we named one of the best albums of that year. Revisit our full review.
