Critics’ reviews are now in for Jared Leto‘s Marvel debut Morbius and it’s not looking great.
While audience ratings aren’t in just yet as the film is set to premiere tomorrow, critics have already had a chance to form their opinions on the latest Spider-Verse installment, and as of writing, Morbius has scored just 19% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Sifting through the reviews, the general consensus seems to be a lack of originality paired with a less-than-engaging plotline. “The cinematic equivalent of Murphy’s Law is demonstrated by this appalling superhero snooze-fest,” writes The Times UK‘s Kevin Maher. “It’s a movie without dramatic jeopardy, originality, narrative coherence, compelling characters or a single even vaguely human performance.”
Rolling Stone‘s David Fear went as far as to call it one of Marvel’s worst-ever films: “Is Morbius the worst Marvel movie ever made? In an alternate universe without The New Mutants, the answer would likely be yes.”

Elsewhere in entertainment, Netflix will be adding new content from 40 anime titles in 2022.
