After unveiling a string of new singles recently, Jamie xx has finally announced his imminent studio offering, set to surface nine years after his In Colour debut. Entitled In Waves, the producer’s second solo project is officially scheduled to arrive this fall, complete with previously released Honey Dijon feature “Baddy on the Floor” and now-out DJ-set staple “Treat Each Other Right” as well as features from Robyn, Panda Bear, Kelsey Lu, the Avalanches, and The xx bandmates Romy and Oliver Sim.
Jamie kicked off the album’s rollout today by releasing the full version of “Treat Each Other Right” – a track he’s teased at a slew of his DJ sets over the years. The high-energy cut comes equipped with a chaotic Rosie Marks-directed visual, complete with a cameo from Gordon Ramsay.
“It’s been a while… and a lot has happened in that time. Ups and downs, growing up, figuring stuff out and then forgetting it all many times over. Life-changing events and world-changing events. These waves that we have all experienced together and alone,” Jamie explained in a statement.
In Waves is slated to feature 12 songs, and also arrive accompanied by an extended “deluxe” iteration, which is set to feature the previously released tracks “It’s So Good,” “Kill Dem,” and “Let’s Do It Again,” as well as two new tracks – one of which features Erykah Badu.
“I wanted to make something fun, joyful and introspective all at once. The best moments on a dance floor are usually that for me. I can’t wait to share it with you.”
