Former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Jake E. Lee has revealed more details about the Las Vegas shooting that left him with three non-fatal gunshot wounds.
As originally reported, Lee was involved in a random street shooting early on October 15th near his Las Vegas home while taking his dog out for a walk. Thankfully the bullets didn’t hit any vital organs — despite police finding a full clip of shell casings at the scene — and the guitarist was soon recovering in the intensive care unit at the nearby Sunrise Hospital.
Lee is now back home to continue his recovery and took to Facebook to offer up the dramatic specifics regarding the shooting, which wasn’t quite so random, as it turns out. Instead, Lee revealed that he and his dog Coco had actually confronted a pair of potential motorcycle thieves at his neighbor’s driveway prior to the gunfire.

Lee’s full post, which included a pic of his heroic pup, read as follows:
“Thank you again for all your concern. A quick update: back home recuperating. A big thanks to those at Sunrise Hospital for taking such good care of me. And some brief details about that night. Walking home from our walk Coco and I crossed paths with a couple of thieves. Dressed darkly, hoodies pulled down their faces and masks covering their mouths. Standing in a neighbor’s driveway checking out his motorcycle. There was a verbal confrontation which ended with an agreement that I would walk one way and they would walk the opposite. That didn’t work out. I’ll probably talk in more detail about it later but right now I can only comfortably do a little at a time. Let me look for another cute pic of Coco!”
Following the shooting, Lee’s friend and fellow Las Vegas-based guitarist DJ Ashba shared a text message exchange he had with Lee while the latter was still in the hospital. “I am one lucky mother f**ker,” wrote Lee in the text, which reads in a completely new light considering the harrowing details of his confrontation with the shooter.
In an earlier update, Lee wrote, “The police found 15 shell casings at the scene which means he emptied his clip on me. I could only dodge so many so one bullet went through my forearm, one through my foot, and one in the back which broke a rib and damaged a lung.”
As of October 17th, Las Vegas police had made no arrests and the shooting was deemed “an ongoing investigation.”
