‘Jackass Forever’ Tops Domestic Box Office With $23.5 Million USD

‘Jackass Forever’ Tops Domestic Box Office With $23.5 Million USD

Jackass Forever has topped the domestic box office in its opening weekend, raking in $23.5 million USD across 3,604 North American locations.

Ticket buyers for the fifth installment in the Jackass franchise were 68% male, according to Variety. Additionally, 25% of attendees were over the age of 35 and 67% were between the ages of 18 and 34.

“In a business that doesn’t surprise all that often, it’s sure nice to know that surprises — good ones — can still happen,” Chris Aronson, president of domestic distribution for Paramount, told the outlet. “I was pretty heartened by the percentage of moviegoers over 35. Who knew?”

Jackass Forever arrives after Jackass: The Movie (2002), Jackass Number Two (2006) and Jackass 3D (2010) in the franchise.

The movie sees the return of Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Dave England, Wee Man, Danger Ehren and Preston Lacy, while welcoming newcomers Sean “Poopies” McInerney, Zach “Zackass” Holmes, Rachel Wolfson, Eric Manaka and Jasper Dolphin.

“Celebrating the joy of being back together with your best friends and a perfectly executed shot to the dingdong, the original Jackass crew return for another round of hilarious, wildly absurd, and often dangerous displays of comedy with a little help from some exciting new cast,” the official synopsis reads. “Johnny and the team push the envelope even further in Jackass Forever.”

Trailing behind Jackass Forever at the box office were Roland Emmerich’s Moonfall, which collected $10.1 million USD, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, which grossed $9.6 million USD in its eighth week.

Elsewhere in entertainment, Netflix will release more than 80 original movies throughout 2022.
