J. Cole has returned with a new feature on Smino‘s latest track, “90 Proof.”
“Take a break and roll a sticky/Let’s get high/Not too great at relationships/At least I try,” Smino vocalizes on the chorus before Cole joins in: “I got a real one/If I was broke, she never would leave me, no.”
The track, produced by Groove and Monte Booker, marks the inaugural cut from Smino’s forthcoming album, Luv 4 Rent. The record, which does not presently have a release date, will mark the rapper’s third studio album, after 2018’s Noir and 2017’s Blkswn, and his first effort under Motown Records.
Meanwhile, Cole put out his most recent album, The Off-Season, in May of last year. The record, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, features a total of 12 songs and includes guest vocals from 21 Savage, Morray, Diddy, Lil Baby and many others.
“90 Proof” is only the latest collaboration between Smino and Cole — the duo previously appeared on several tracks from Cole’s Dreamville compilation record Revenge of the Dreamers III in 2019, including “1993” and “Sacrifices.”
