Los Angeles-based pop prodigy Isaac Dunbar is recreating himself. The 20-year-old singer took a break from releasing new music following his 2021 EP, evil twin.
His last project introduced him as a nimble songwriter, producer and instrumentalist, but in 2024, Dunbar has returned with fervor. “Apartment A” marks his first single in over two years, a pop dance track influenced by the electronic music of queer club culture.
Fittingly, the Hannah Bon-directed music video takes place at a house party. As Dunbar wanders through the home, he dances among his friends while performing directly to the camera.
“‘Apartment A’ is about creating fame within yourself, seeing yourself as an icon. A complete opposite of insecurity,” Dunbar says. “It’s about the friends I made living in New York and how we found ourselves in our small apartments, gay clubs, and the hustle and bustle.”
The new song is a promising return from Dunbar and perhaps a taste of what’s to come on his next project. He’s certainly come a long way since evil twin and fans are looking forward to seeing him explore this new sound he’s introduced.
