International Football Stars Take on ‘FIFA 22’ Pros In New Esports Tournament

The FIFA 22 Global Series is just around the corner, and to kick off the international esports phenomenon, EA Sports is now hosting a FIFA 22 Challenge, bringing some of football‘s biggest stars together with the video game franchise’s best competitors in a one-day, 2v2 tournament.

Building on the event’s success from last year, EA Sports has now upped its game, inviting eight top-tier footballers to join the tournament, including Chelsea’s Timo Werner and Callum Hudson-Odoi, Wycombe Wanderers’ Adebayo Akinfenwa, Liverpool’s Diogo Jota, Paris Saint-Germain’s Layvin Kurzawa, Juventus’ Weston McKinnie, FC Barcelona’s Pedri Gonzalez, and Manchester City’s Ferran Torres. Each of these players will pair up with a FIFA esports pro to go head to head in 2v2 battles, employing the help of experts like Case Esports’ SaNkHs, Excel’s XL Tom, and Fnatic’s Tekkz.

On top of witnessing some epic gameplay from the best in the world, you’ll also be rewarded with in-game content for tuning in, including an adidas 99 kit, adidas 99 Stadium Dressing, Team Gullit and DUX Gaming badges and kits. FGS tokens will also be handed out, which can then be swapped for packs in FIFA Ultimate Team, and EA will be announcing more updates to the game mode during the stream as well.

For the football fans out there, you can tune in to the FIFA 22 Challenge over on EA Sports FIFA Esports’ Twitch or YouTube channel. The tournament will begin at 7:00 p.m. BST today, and you’ll find the full fixture over on EA Sports’ website.
