Instagram Launches Creator Lab, New Educational Portal for Emerging Creators

Instagram on Thursday launched Creator Lab, an educational portal intended to aid emerging creators in growing their platforms via advice from popular players on the social media platform.

From fine-dining connoisseurs and path-forging philanthropists to front-row-seated fashion influencers and opinionated entertainment critics, the platform is fully equipped with informative content from well-established creators across a variety of industries. Creator Lab is divided into three separate categories — Expressing Yourself, Building Community and Growing Long-Term — in which each participating creator has provided their own candid and tactical advice video on topics including “building content strategy” and “going full-time as a creator,” as well as “addressing money taboo,” “avoiding social comparison” and more.

“When I first heard of Creator Lab, and the different topics they wanted to shed a light on, I was so excited and more than happy to contribute in whatever way I can,” said beauty creator Kali Ledger in a statement. “Instagram is such a complex platform, it has changed so much over the years, that trying to understand how everything works can be tough.”

“Being able to connect creators with other creators and soon-to-be-creators, and giving them a personal space to educate, is what makes the Creator Lab so unique,” she added. “It’s all about sharing current tips and tricks, practical advice and how to get started in 2022, but the information comes directly from someone that is also using that knowledge, and I think that is the crucial point.”

While the platform has begun with a series of creator-led videos, Instagram’s ultimate goal with the initiative is to foster an educational and support-based community for its users.
