“Imagine Picasso” Makes U.S. Debut in San Francisco

Immersive exhibitions were certainly a craze last year, with Vincent Van Gogh and the Sistine Chapel being amongst the most sought after around the world. It doesn’t seem like that trend will go away anytime soon, as San Francisco has unveiled a new show dedicated to the prolific artist, Pablo Picasso.

Made in conjunction with the Picasso Estate, “Imagine Picasso” utilizes over 200 works made by the late Spanish artist to create an immersive experience hailed by the organizer as “The largest collection of Picasso’s paintings in one collection ever.” Pablo’s grandson, Olivier Widmaier Picasso, went on to state that “I think this exhibition would have pleased my grandfather a lot because he was, above all, a man of freedom.”

Amongst the work on display, Picasso’s seminal oil painting, Guernica, is perhaps the most resounding. Made in 1937 to exemplify the horrors of war, the art is considered by many as arguably Picasso’s most famous work and it is reimagined across the geometric sculptures inside the space, along with the blood-red color of the floor.

The exhibition first appeared in France and Canada and is now making its U.S. debut at San Francisco’s Skylight at The Armory. Please visit “Imagine Picasso” for more information.
