Having worked in fashion for 15 years now, it’s safe to say I have tried a lot of steamers out. I’ve worked with industrial-sized steamers on the most high profile and high octane of shoots, but I’ve also given many a home clothing steamer a go in a panic to get out of the door looking less creased in a jiffy. Be cogniscent of your cashmere pieces and you could extend their lifetime by almost a decade. Debobble your knits with a handy fabric shaver and you’ll give them a new lease of life each winter. Plus, steaming your clothes is not only a more delicate and effective way to smooth them out, it’s also quicker and easier than having to store a giant ironing board at home (honestly, where are these supposed to live?). Not to mention the dreaded fear around hoping that the iron you last used two years ago isn’t going to spurt out limescale gunk over that new silk blouse…
