Iggy Azalea Claims Britney Spears’ Dad Made Her Sign an NDA Before a Performance

Iggy Azalea Claims Britney Spears’ Dad Made Her Sign an NDA Before a Performance

“During the time we worked together in 2015, I personally witnessed the same behavior Britney detailed in regards to her father last week and I just want to back her up & tell the world that: She is not exaggerating or lying,” Azalea wrote. “I saw her restricted from even the most bizarre & trivial things: like how many sodas she was allowed to drink. Why is that even necessary.

“Her father conveniently waited until literally moments before our [Billboard Music Awards] performance when I was backstage in the dressing room & told me if I did not sign an NDA he would not allow me on stage,” the rapper claimed. “The way he went about getting me to sign a contract, sounded similar to the tactics Britney spoke about last week in regards to her Las Vegas show.”

Azalea appeared to be commenting on claims Britney made in the court hearing, in which she said dad Jamie was “all for” her being put on the mood-stabilizing drug lithium and monitored by nurses against her wishes after she declined to perform at her planned Las Vegas residency.

The tweet ends with Azalea claiming that Jamie Spears — who long controlled the whole conservatorship before stepping down in 2019 from her personal affairs — “has a habit of making people sign documents while under Duress it seems.” She added, “Britney Spears should not be forced to co-exist with that man when she’s made it clear it is negatively impacting her mental health. This is not right at all.”

Billboard has reached out to Jamie Spears’ and Britney Spears’ reps for comment.

At Spears’ conservatorship hearing in Los Angeles, the 39-year-old also claimed that she was forced to keep an IUD device in her body despite wanting go have more children, and said that her dad and “anyone involved in this conservatorship, and my management who played a huge role in punishing me … should be in jail.”

Jamie Spears has asked the court overseeing Britney’s conservatorship to investigate her statements to a judge last week on the court’s control of her medical treatment and personal life, which she described as overly restrictive and abusive. He emphasized in a pair of documents filed Tuesday night that he has had no power over his daughter’s personal affairs for nearly two years. His filing says the court must investigate “serious allegations regarding forced labor, forced medical treatment and therapy, improper medical care, and limitations on personal rights.”
