Idris Elba is jumping back into TV with his new starring role in Apple TV+‘s Hijack.
The series is a seven-part drama that follows the journey of a hijacked plane on its way to London. In the seven-hour flight, Elba plays negotiator Sam Nelson who utilizes his experiences in the business world to attempt to save the passengers on board. The series is written by Lupin writer George Kay and is directed by Jim Field Smith. Smith also executive produced the series with Elba. The new series is a part of the actor’s first-look deal his Green Door Pictures company signed with Apple.
The announcement of the series comes after Elba recently said that he was planning on focusing on his music career and will be taking a step back from acting. Elba is also a DJ and regularly performs sets at major festivals including at Coachella in 2019.
