IDEA Books Captures Glen Luchford’s ’90s Prada Legacy In Collectors Photobook

British fashion photographer and film director Glen Luchford is one of fashion’s favorite darlings, working with the likes of The Face magazine in the late ’80s and early ’90s before going onto work with fashion houses, such as Prada. Now, IDEA Books has released the second edition of what it calls “The best book we ever made,” Glen Luchford’s PRADA 96-98.

Working with Miuccia Prada in the mid-to-late ’90s, Luchford was enlisted to shoot campaigns and lookbooks that captured the effervescent yet timeless buzz that defined Prada during that time. This is, of course, reflected in PRADA 96-98 which not only features extensive archival imagery shot by Luchford, but also interviews conducted by Lou Stoppard, various celebrity photoshoots capturing Amber Valletta, Willem Dafoe, and Joaquin Phoenix to name just a few, and more.

The book itself also includes original campaigns directed by David James, and it all came together thanks to Ezra Petronio “who has designed and fashioned this new book.” Lastly, IDEA Books enlisted Italian printers and bookbinders to meticulously craft each copy, wrapping the hardback in cloth before debossing prints and text on the front and printing a photo on the rear.

Comprising 116 pages including Chromolux inserts, IDEA Books and Glen Luchford’s PRADA 96-98 retails for $125 USD and can be bought from Dover Street Market New York now.

Elsewhere in the art world, Banksy has pledged to sell their artworks to help convert the Reading Gaol Prison into an arts hub.
