ICYMI: Coldplay Drops Tenth Studio Album ‘Moon Music’

ICYMI: Coldplay Drops Tenth Studio Album 'Moon Music'

Coldplay has dropped its tenth studio album titled, Moon Music earlier this weekend.

The much-anticipated album comes after the band previously announced that their final record is likely to come out in 2025. Speaking to BBC Radio 2’s Jo Whiley in 2021, Chris Martin said, “”Our last proper record will come out in 2025 and after that I think we will only tour. Maybe we’ll do some collaborative things but the Coldplay catalogue, as it were, finishes then.” He doubled down earlier this week with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, commenting on the importance of ending with 12 albums, “I’ll tell you why. It’s really important that we have that limit. There’s only 12 and a half Beatles albums. There’s about the same Bob Marley, so all of our heroes. And also having that limit means that the quality control is so high right now, and for a song to make it, it’s almost impossible, which is great. And so where we could be kind of coasting, we’re trying to improve.”

Since its release, the album has received many positive reviews including from Rolling Stone, “It’s every bit as intergalactically ambitious as you’d expect,” eve calling it “musically spacious and emotionally boundless.” NME also gave it a four-star review calling it “the power of music to weather life’s storms.” Have a listen to the new album below.
