Today, March 6, marks the last chance to bid on the iconic 1997 Mercedes-AMG CLK GTR GT1, recently displayed at the debut ModaMiami event and currently up for auction via a Sotheby’s Sealed lot presented by RM Sotheby’s.
This specific example, chassis number 004, is a car with a formidable history in the racing realm. Known as the most victorious CLK GTR of its time, this iconic “Silver Arrow” clinched the 1997 FIA GT Championship, marking a monumental chapter in Mercedes-Benz’s storied racing heritage.
The CLK GTR GT1, driven by the acclaimed Bernd Schneider, not only secured the Drivers’ Championship for Schneider but also led Mercedes-AMG to win the Constructors’ Championship in the 1997 season. This vehicle boasts an impressive record, with four victories, two additional podiums, five pole positions and five fastest laps across the 11 rounds of the championship, demonstrating its dominance.
Constructed as part of a collaboration between Mercedes-Benz Motorsport and AMG, this CLK GTR GT1 was the first of just four examples ever made.
