Iconic 1992 Lancia Delta Integrale Evo 1 Surfaces at Auction

Ralph Gilles, the Chief Design Officer at Stellantis, has put his prized 1992 Lancia Delta Integrale Evo 1 up for auction on Bring A Trailer, presenting a unique opportunity for automotive enthusiasts to own a piece of rally history. Originally imported from Japan to the United States, this iconic vehicle was acquired by Gilles in May 2018 and has since undergone significant upgrades to both its performance and aesthetics.

Under Gilles’ ownership, the Lancia’s turbocharged 2.0L inline-four engine received a comprehensive rebuild, enhanced with Colombo & Bariani camshafts, an Eprom ECU chip and a Walkers Garage exhaust manifold. This meticulous work ensures power is smoothly delivered to all four wheels via a five-speed manual transaxle, a Ferguson viscous coupling center differential and a Torsen limited-slip rear differential. Additionally, a replacement clutch kit was installed, highlighting the careful attention to preserving the car’s rally-bred performance capabilities — which are responsible for its claim to fame in the 80s and 90s.

The exterior of this Delta Integrale, finished in a striking Rosso Monza, showcases Evo-specific bodywork including boxed fender flares and an adjustable rear spoiler, complemented by aftermarket headlamp bulbs, fog lights and replacement HF badging. Its stance is perfected with 15” Speedline alloy wheels wrapped in Kumho Ecsta V720 tires, adjustable coilovers and a robust braking system with anti-lock discs.

Inside, the cabin features Recaro front seats adorned in gray cloth, a MOMO steering wheel and shift knob, as well as Veglia instrumentation, creating an environment that blends comfort with performance. Modern amenities like a Pioneer stereo system and air conditioning are added to provide an enjoyable ride without detracting from the car’s authentic rally character.

With just over 101,000 kilometers or 63,000 miles on the odometer, this meticulously cared-for Lancia Delta Integrale Evo 1 combines a rich heritage with modern enhancements. At the time of writing, the auction has only two days left on the clock, with the highest bid on the lot sitting at $50,000 USD.
