Ice Cube Calls AI Music "Demonic," Threatens to Sue Anyone Who Uses His Voice

In the past couple of months, the music industry saw a string of cases involving AI-generated songs. Since then, musicians and artists alike have been vocal with their vehement disapproval of utilizing AI. Music legend Sting spoke to the BBC recently claiming that it has now become “a battle” to defend their work against the rise of AI-generated songs. American rapper Ice Cube is now the latest artist to voice their opinion regarding AI songs.

In an interview with Full Send last week, Ice Cube explained his disdain for AI-generated songs, going as far as stating that he is willing to sue over his likeness. The hosts asked Cube what he thought of the AI-generated track “Heart On My Sleeve” that appeared to mimic Toronto artists Drake and The Weeknd that went viral recently. The MC voiced his disapproval calling AI-generated songs “demonic.” He added,”I don’t wanna hear an AI Drake song. Yeah. I don’t wanna hear that bullshit. He should sue whoever made it.”

On the topic of suing, Cube insisted that if anyone every made an AI-generated voice of him, he would definitely consider a lawsuit. He said, “Imma sue the motherf***a who made it and the people and the platform who play it. It’s like a sample. Somebody can’t take your original voice and manipulate it without having to pay…I think AI is demonic [and] I think AI is going to get a backlash from organic people.” Watch Cube’s full conversation below.
