When it comes to dressing for summer, I take the ‘more is more’ approach. I go for loose linen jumpsuits, flowing trousers and dresses, white jeans, and seersucker tops with puff sleeves (all the better for ventilation). If you haven’t gathered already, I tend to cover up when the sun comes out. That’s partly because I want to protect my skin but also because the UK weather is so changeable that I will inevitably get cold, and need to rely on trusty layers to cope with the hourly shift in temperatures. But then I spied a crop-top-and-mini-skirt daisy print co-ord from & Other Stories.
It has all the markings of an outfit I’d usually avoid—”mini” and “crop top” aren’t words to describe anything in my daily wardrobe. However, there is a heatwave, people, and both these items, whether worn together or separately have the power to transform an outfit. Personally, I love the square neck on the crop top and can imagine wearing it with a pair of high waisted wide-leg white jeans I’ve got in my wardrobe. I’d also say that the mini would look incredible with a white T-shirt or loose shirt tucked in. As for shoes—opt for strappy heels or classic white sneakers, from brands such as Veja or Superga. And if you’re into the full shebang, might I suggest taking tips from the two women below who pull the co-ord off with aplomb. Keep scrolling to see the look…
